To amend the Marine Protection, Research, and Sanctuaries Act of 1972 to establish uniform penalties for violations of title I of such Act.

Official

Amends the Marine Protection, Research, and Sanctuaries Act of 1972 to require persons engaging in illegal ocean dumping to be fined or imprisoned for up to five years or both. (Current law requires fines up to $50,000 or imprisonment for up to one year or both.) Requires persons convicted of such violations to forfeit to the United States any property: (1) derived from any proceeds obtained as a result of such violation; and (2) used or intended to be used to commit such violation.
